Meet Our Fear Free certified Principal Doctors
Sandy Nelson, DVM & Donna Anderson, DVM

Together, Dr. Nelson and Dr. Anderson over the course of their 30 and 23-year careers, respectively, have centered everything on one core value: empathy. Together, they have built a practice that treats pets and their families with respect—ensuring they feel completely informed and like a true partner in care.

Empathy comes easy to these two—they have five dogs between them! If you run into either of them in the wild, you’ll find Dr. Nelson adventuring outside with her family or playing guitar and Dr. Anderson traveling abroad or cycling with her husband.

Sandy Nelson, DVM

Dr. Sandy Nelson graduated from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1988 and practiced in West Texas in companion animal and emergency medicine and surgery for the next ten years. Following that, she lived and worked in Montana for a short time before moving to Oregon where she’s been working since 2001. In addition to routine care and surgical procedures, she also performs acupuncture for pets.

Dr. Nelson’s outside interests include adventuring outside with her family, road trips and camping, playing with her guitar, and entertaining her two dogs, Skitzzy and Wren.

Dr. Nelson is Fear Free certified.

Donna Anderson, DVM

Donna Anderson received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the joint program at Oregon State-Washington State Veterinary School. Serving as a veterinarian for over 23 years, Dr. Anderson has a love and passion for helping pets. Focusing on preventive care medicine and surgery, Dr. Anderson treats dogs, cats, rabbits, Guinea pigs, and more.

Dr. Anderson’s interests outside of work include traveling, yoga, cycling, and serving on the Board for the Washington County Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Anderson and her husband Brad currently have 2 furry rescued children, Mochi (Maltese) and Lance (chihuahua). In their free time, they enjoy traveling and are involved with various humanitarian organizations in Nepal, Cambodia, and Nicaragua.

Dr. Anderson is Fear Free certified.

Martha, Lead Receptionist

After moving to the Pacific Northwest and leaving her daycare business behind five years ago Martha still felt the need to take care of other people’s children. This time she thought she would shower her love and care on their fur babies. Now she is able to get her pet fix in at work and not bring home all the dogs and cats (and bunnies, and Guinea pigs, and chinchillas, etc, etc, etc).

When not at work Martha loves to hang out with her husband haunting antique stores, museums, used books stores, and occasionally even nature walks. Or she can be found snuggled at home with her husband and her two pups, Annie and Bixby, reading, watching old movies, or yakking with her two grown children.

Martha is Fear Free certified.

Cat, Receptionist & Veterinary Assistant

The flat landscapes of Illinois. The rice fields of Japan. The ancient temples of Greece. Cat may have lived across the globe, but her heart resides in the Northwest. The forests, coastline, mountains, and rain make Oregon home.

Even in her days of studying history and teaching English, Cat found a way to make her life revolve around animals. Special lessons about critters or essays about the relationship between animals and humans filled her days before finding a job in the veterinary field.

Cat cares for a myriad of small creatures, and spends most of her “free” time attending to their various needs. Otherwise, she enjoys reading, playing Dungeons and Dragons, and dabbling in various arts and crafts.

Cat is Fear Free certified.
